Get to Know our Assistants

Happy Thursday IHD family! At IHD we are so proud to have a great teaching assistant program. All of our assistants go through a year of training, gaining years of knowledge from our experienced teaching staff. Upon  graduation of the program they are then given the opportunity to take on a leadership role at the studio, assisting in weekly classes, studio events and recitals. These amazing young dancers do so much for out studio. We asked them a few questions this week so you could all get to know them a little better.

What advice would you give younger dancers? I would tell them to not give up and keep working toward their goals. Even if you don't get a skill at first, don't stop trying because the feeling once you do get it really pays off.

What is your favourite part of being part of the IHD family? My favourite part of being part of the IHD family are all the bonds you create. My teammates and the staff at IHD are essentially a second family to me and I'm very grateful to be surrounded by such loving and supportive people.

Why did you choose to become an assistant? I chose to become a teaching assistant because I love working with children. I also love helping people and being a part of the amazing time kids have at IHD. I like watching them grow as dancers just as I did.

What advice would you give younger dancers? My biggest piece of advice to dancers is to be themselves. Another piece of advice is to try your best at everything even if it's not your strong suit. Also keeping an open minded attitude when trying new styles of dance. My last piece of advice would be to have fun and make long lasting friendships.

What is your favourite part of being part of the IHD family? I have countless memories of dance as this will be my 15th season with this amazing family. The friendships I have formed and the people I have met would be my favourite part. Many teachers have taught be my whole life and I couldn't have asked for better. I am so grateful for my teachers and friends.
