We are so excited to launch another year of our Assistant Training Program. At IHD, we believe in empowering our students to become knowledgeable, helpful and well-trained assistants and Junior instructors. This year we are revamping our program to include 3 modules that will give our students the confidence and ability to help lead the next generation of dancers at IHD.
What’s included
● All course materials
● 2-4 hours of in class instruction focusing on assisting techniques & expectations as well as the opportunity to gain practical experience in the classroom What’s expected
● Students will do at least 12 hours of observation in all styles - jazz, acro, ballet, princess dance, hip hop and tap in a variety of age groups.
● Students they will do 16 hours of in-class assisting (combination of styles) with classes age 2-8 years old.
● Students will be asked to volunteer at studio events such as picture day and recitals giving them a glimpse into what it takes to put on shows and run a studio
● Students will write a year end exam
When students successfully complete their in-studio hours and their exam, they will go on to join our roster of qualified teaching assistants. As a graduate of the assistant program and part of the volunteer program, they can receive discounted tuition towards select classes, receive reference for their resume and possible high school volunteer hours. Dancers will also receive valuable experience in the classroom and one on one mentorship from our experienced staff.
