We have the pleasure of welcoming Mr. Raffaele to our team this season to choreograph competitive hip hop as well as teaching two exciting Mini Sessions: Boys Hip Hop & Adult Hip Hop.

At a young age Raffaele Brereton was introduced and submerged in music and dance. Between his grandmothers singing, his sisters step team and steel pan lessons, and the influences of 90’s Hip Hop, R&B, and Pop music; there was always a rhythm and beat to be followed. Mimicking the moves of iconic individuals and influential groups over the 1990’s and early 2000’s Raffaele began to showcase his passion for movement and dance, which was brought to the surface when he entered into high school. With his high school having introduced a dance program the previous year, Raffaele found himself in the studio every lunch piecing together routines, helping others, or training himself. Taking part in school assemblies, dances, and talent shows provided a platform for Raffaele to display his talents which shortly after flowed into his everyday activities both inside and outside of school.

Raffaele’s talents were soon recognized outside of school and he began to perform in the professional dance industry.  After graduating from high school, Raffaele attended York University where he graduated in 2010 with a Bachelor of Arts in Public Administration and Justice Studies. He continued to pursue his love of dance by working with the York University Hip Hop Team, competing in Ontario University Championship Hip Hop Competition(O.U.C.H.), and events held by York University itself. While studying at York University he balanced work, school, and dance in order to continue his development as a dancer.

Most recently Raffaele was a featured dancer in the Lifetime BioPic of the late R&B superstar Aaliyah titled - Aaliyah: Princess of R&B choreographed by Toronto’s own Luther Brown known for his work with various artists and So You Think You Can Dance Canada. Raffaele has worked with choreographers such as Christopher “Nexx Level” Clark, Romeo Cassalas, Derick “Xclusiv” Robinson, Scott Fordham, Mariano of ABA Entertainment, Mark Samuels of Do Dat Entertainment, and Jae Blaze.

Raffaele has performed and showcased his talents in Toronto’s Choreographers Ball, The Bazaar, Fever After Dark and The Violator Artist Search in New York. He has also appeared in music videos for various artists including Jully Black, Divine Brown, General, Rich Kidd, Cascada and Machel Montano just to name a few. He has also appeared on several televised events such as New Music Lives Best Dance Crew, Much Music’s New Years Countdown, The IIFA Awards, The Toronto Raptors and So You Think You Can Dance season 4.

Currently Raffaele is a member of the all male Toronto based dance crew The Original Gentlemen (The O.G. Crew) and a founding member of the urban hybrid group, Miscellum Dance Collective (MDC).

Raffaele’s commitment to self-improvement and passion for dance continues to motivate and push him to strive for more as a performer, entertainer, and overall artist.
