Setting Goals

It’s a new month at IHD! As we welcome November at the studio, a new month and a new season, it is the perfect time to set new dance goals. When we set goals for our training, we are setting ourselves up for success. Goals give us direction, focus and a sense of pride when our goals are finally achieved. Here are some examples of goals you can set for this month.

Daily choreography practice.

Take some time to practice your choreography each day. As we start holiday performance dances and continue competitive choreography give yourself time each day to go over the steps, listen to your music and review videos. You’ll be ready each week to keep working on the dance with confidence.

Commit to cross training.

Cross training is a great way to strengthen our bodies and get out of our heads when it comes to dance. You could take yourself for a walk, try a new workout video on YouTube or sign up for a team at school.

Daily stretches.

Take a moment to stretch each day. You’ll increase your flexibility, help keep you from getting sore after class  and add some routine to your day.

Something New.

Whether it’s a new skill you’ve learned in class or something cool you’ve seen online, pick a new skill to master this month. Dedicate some time to breaking down the skills, ask your teachers to lend a hand and slowly but surely you’ll learn something new.
