Getting Ready for the New Season of Dance

Happy Wednesday IHD Family! We are planning a very exciting 2022/2023 season and are so excited to be back in the studio together. As we head into season 18 we wanted to talk about how you can prepare for your return to the studio.

Check out our schedule

Our 2022/2023 schedule is open for registration. Make sure to take a look and save the spot in the classes on your wish list. Classes can fill up fast! Do some research on different styles of dance and choose which style(s) you might want to try this year. You can always reach out to us with any questions about our classes.

Set some goals

The start of a new season is a great time to set new goals and the sooner the better. Come prepared on your first day of class with the things you want to accomplish. Do you want to improve your jumps or turns? Would you like to make a new friend in class this year? Maybe you are starting dance for the first time and want to come to dance with an open heart and mind. Think about what you want to accomplish this year and don’t be afraid to share these goals with your teacher in the first weeks of class.

Organize your dance stuff

Don’t wait until the last minute to make sure you have what you need for class. Go through your shoes and bodysuits and try them on. Donate or sell what doesn’t work (did you know IHD has it’s own Buy and Sell Facebook page). Make sure you have a great water bottle, stock your dance bag with hair supplies and find some dance wear that makes you feel confident and comfortable. Make a list of anything you may need and give yourself and your family time to get organized before the start of class.

Ease back into routine

You may have taken this summer to relax and recharge and may not have danced as much as you have planned. Take these last few weeks of summer to ease back into a routine. Maybe you need to slowly adjust what time you are waking up in the morning or going to bed at night to ensure you’ll be ready for late night classes in the fall. Maybe you need to ease back into stretching daily to avoid soreness in the first weeks back into class. Adjustments to your routine or schedule don’t need to happen overnight but the adjustment will be much easier if you start now.

We are so excited to welcome new and returning students back to dance in the fall. If you have any questions about our fall programming or want to come in for a trial class please reach out. Hope to dance with you soon!
